Description

We will do two easy walks at Lake Rotoroa, Nelson Lakes NP. People mainly shoot through taking the water taxi to the head of the lake and the D'Urville valley but there are some walks of interest at the road-end.The first walk will be the Braeburn loop track. This is a valley walk on a good track through fine bush with a short side trip to a waterfall (2 hours). After this warm-up and lunch, we will head up the Porika track. This is a steep 4WD road heading to the Howard valley. We will only go up to the section where there are wonderfull views back down to the lake, forest and mountain backdrop (1.5 hrs return). There is also the option to park up at the Gownbridge turnoff on SH6 and bike in/out to the lake on the quiet side-road (24 km return).

Registration

It is IMPORTANT that "You contact the Trip Leader before registering" for a trip. Especially if you are new to the club or a non-club member (Visitor). The Leader will need to be confident that you have the experience, fitness and the correct gear to complete the trip successfully. :-)
